(영문초록)[영문초록] This thesis studies the otherness through the character of which body is changing, or the process, in SF movie. Image creation in movies, or reality of visual and graphic technology, is developing, movie’s creative capacity has become more wide and detailed, compared to the past. Therefore, recreation of various and shocking image has become possible, and especially SF movies can deal more wide stories, thanks to the technical development, and are now most interesting genre among popular movies. Technical development of the 20th century is an important factor not only for the SF movie production environment but also for the theme and materials. This is definition and genre characteristics of SF movies, and emergence of characters with special power and bodies that combine different types or modify certain part, or cyborg is natural. The thesis recognizes characteristics of the body, which transforms or combines different types, in SF movies as a body which transplants or is infected by otherness. In a framework of a movie, which has a certain story line and limited characters, meaning of opponent and otherness can be variously defined. Transplantation process of otherness is pictured to a body that changes in the time frame after transplantation, and through this, change of status of the character in the social structure, characteristics of the main stream ideology and view on others can be realized. Moreover, disgust and lowliness of the body that is transformed makes the boundary between self and others concrete while dim, accepting the modern body discussion’s implication. In other words, the otherness transplanted to certain and dual mainstream ideology is the biggest obstacle to accomplishment of ego and subjectivity of the characters. Characters, whose bodies are modified and become lowly due to transplantation of otherness, lies on the boundary of mainstream ideology, questioning socio-cultural subjectivity, and lying inside a structure where good-will violence is possible. Status of the characters whose bodies are changed, or others’ view on him/her become main factors that decide utopian or dystopian result, which are main classification standard of SF movies. Realization of changing body as a body on which otherness is transplanted can be a meaningful study, given modern discussion on body. At this time, body is an important standard that can judge mainstream ideology built by the movie and an index of realization. This is fundamental question on the concept over dualist and rational-oriented person, and a work that reveals denial. Changing perspective on others and strategy to treat others are most directly and obviously expressed. Furthermore, the catharsis through feast of changed body gives opportunity to rethink socio-cultural function of popular movies. Therefore, the thesis intends to study the body transplanted of otherness in the following order. First, relationship between scapegoat and otherness in a society where discussion on others from western Europe’s traditional metaphysics and self-centered subjectivity to Levinas’ other-centered ethical subjectivity, and Rene Girard’s ‘scapegoat mechanism’ keep maintain, is studied. Secondly, through an image of monster that combines foreigner or scapegoat, in western art history from ancient times, characteristics of fixing others as image and meaning of transformed body’s painting in that time’s socio-cultural text. Also, what meaning the transformed body image has in modern art is studied along with modern discussion on body, and famous artists and their works on ‘post human’ and ‘cyborg’ image, which are free from previous political status or innate gene are taken a look at. Third, by using Julia Kristeva’s abject theory, transformed and lowly body’s psychoanalytic meaning and socio-cultural relationship are studied. Cindy Sherman and Kiki Smith’s art activities, which expressed abject body with feces, menstrual blood, castrat
