(논문요약)[국문초록] 본 논문은 94년 직배영화의 프린트 벌수의 제한이 해제되는 기점이 다가오면서, 헐리우드 영화와 서구의 예술영화가 국내시장을 잠입해 들어올 때 방화가 존속할 수 있는 길을 모색하고자 하는데서 출발하였다. 물론 그것은 창작행위 자체의 미학적 성과물에 대한 관점에서 논의되는 것이 가장 적절한 방법이라 하겠지만 본 연구는 이 문제를 자본과 상업적 측면에서 접근해 보고자 하였다. 결국 영화예술의 창작행위를 계속 가능케 하는 것은 영화 제작 자본의 재투자 구조가 바탕이 될 수밖에 없다는 판단에서였으며 이에 영화산업 속에서 차지하는 영화제작사의 위치 고찰과 국내 영화제작사의 국제 경쟁력 강화라는 문제를 본 논문의 연구목적으로 하였다. 그리고 연구대상으로는 국내 유수의 영화제작사 중에서 태흥영화사로 선정했다. 그것은 국내에 100여개의 영화사가 있지만 '태흥'이 80년대 이후부터 그 작품성에 있어서나 흥행면에 있어서 선두를 지켜왔고 또한 영화자본면에 있어서도 든든하며 제작자가 작품에 대한 최대한의 물질적, 심리적 지원을 아끼지 않음으로써 제작자로서의 전형을 보여주고 있다는 생각에서이다. 연구방법으로는 먼저 초창기 한국 영화제작사를 살펴보는 것으로부터 시작하여 '태흥'의 전신인 '태창'까지 언급함으로써 한 영화제작사의 발전과 추이를 살펴보았으며 '태흥'제작작품의 쟝르별, 감독별 특징과 제작기획, 배급구조를 연구하였다. 이상의 연구를 통하여 본 논문은 영화 제작자와 감독이 영화인으로서 존립하기 위해서는 인접 예술과의 관계속에서 영화 예술의 독자성과 차별성을 분명히 해야 하며, 국내 영화사의 국제 경쟁력을 강화시키기 위해서는 영화를 미학적 문제와 관련시켜 사고해야 될 것이라는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 이것은 그간의 연구과정을 통해서 볼 때 영화 제작 과정에서 제작자 개인의 영향력이 큰 우리의 경우에 있어서 영화 제작자의 인식과 태도가 향후 한국 영화 발전과 진로에 대단한 영향력을 끼칠 수밖에 없다고 생각되기 때문이었다. (영문초록)[영문초록] This thesis was begun to search for the way for existence of Korean films in opposition to Hollywood films and the art films of Western Europe that would be free to come to domestic film market of Korea as removed the copy limit of the films distributed directly. Of course it might be more suitably discussed in the point of view on the aesthetic product of creative working itself. But I tried to approach to that matter on the side of capital and industry in this thesis because I thought after all what the creative working of film art could continue was only based on the re-investment structure of capital. So, I made it the aim of this thesis that the consideration on the position of film production company in the film industry and increasing the competitive power of Korean film production companies. I picked up Taehung Film as the subject of study among many film companies in Korea because I thought its manager might be the best model of film producer. Even though there is around one hundred film companies in Korea, Taehung Film always has been at the top on the both side of aesthetic and box-office value since 1980's, and it has much fund for film producing and its manager has spared no material and psychological support to the films as most as possible. This thesis is started to investigate the early days of Korean film production history and studied about the development and progress of a film production company through discussing Taechang, the predecessor of the present Taehung, the each specific characters classified by the kinds and directors, the production plan and the structure of distribution. According to this study I get the thought that the understanding and attitude of film producer have the most important effect on the development of Korean films because the producer has too much influence on the production process of film in Korea. So, this study can be got to the result that the film art must surely have the original character and its distinction in connection with the related arts in order to the producer and director of film exist as a man of film and the film must be thought in relation with aesthetic matter in order to increase the competitive power of Korean film production companies.
