(논문요약)[국문초록] 본 연구에서는 이 실험을 위해 만들어진 애니메이션 영화와 네 가지 종류의 음악을 이용하여 배경 음악이 영화의 의미 해석에 어떤 영향을 주는지 조사하였다. 예비 실험에서는 의미 미분법을 통해 주 실험에서 쓰여질 네 가지 종류의 음악에 대한 요인 분석을 실시하였다. 결과로 애니메이션 영화에 네 가지 차원에 해당하는 형용사쌍 네 가지씩을 추출하였다. 주 실험에서는 피험자들이 네 가지 종류의 배경 음악(아다지오,알레그로,장조,단조)과 함께 제시되어진 영화의 의미를 어떻게 해석하는지 의미 미분법을 통해 조사하였다. 결과로 네 가지 음악 유형에 따라 영화의 의미 해석이 변화하며, 영화 속의 특정 도형의 의미 변화가 두드러지게 나타나는 것이 관찰되었다. 의미변화는 네 가지 차원 모두에서 일어나고 있으며 음악이 지속적으로 주어지느냐 단절적으로 주어지느냐에 따라 음악의 의미가 변화하는 정도가 다르게 관찰되었다. 또한 배경 음악이 영화의 의미 해석에 미치는 효과에 대한 인지적 모델들이 논의되었다. (영문초록)[영문초록] The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of background music on attitudes to figures in a 2-minute animated film. In a preliminary study,subfects saw the film or heard 4 different soundtracks. After thdy saw the film or heard the music,they filled out a questionaire abuot what they saw/heard. The results showed that there are 4 different dimensions of the amination film and music (evaluative, potency,mentality, activity dimension). In the main experiment, which was carried out using semantic differential method, subjects saw the animation film accompanied by 4 different soundtracks, or with no music, The results indicated that the meaning of animation film can be changed by the different soundtracks. The changes in meaning of the figures in the animation film were observed. Especially, the changes in mining of one of the figures were prominent on 4 each dimensions. In conclusion, this study not only replicated the previous study that background music can affect the interpretation of filmed events on some dimension but also suggested cahnges in meaning of the animation film on all dimensions. Two different models explaining the mechanism of effects of background music on the animaion film were also discussed in this study.
