(논문요약)[국문초록] Foot(발) Loose(엉성한, 자유로운)... 합성어, 사전을 찾아보면 형용사로 가고 싶은 곳에 갈 수 있는, 자유로운의 뜻을 갖고 있다. FOOTLOOSE는 1984년에 먼저 영화가 나왔고 1998년에 뮤지컬로 무대화되었다. 아카데미상 수상에 빛나는 원작자 딘 피치포드와 "타이타닉", "왕과나"의 프로듀서 팀이 새롭게 탄생시킨 뮤지컬 Footloose는 시대를 초월하여 기성세대와 젊은 세대의 갈등을 춤과 노래로 풀어내는 이야기로 반항과 억압, 사랑과 상실의 고통을 극복하는 견고한 구성을 자랑하는 작품이다. 1990년대 중반부터 뮤지컬 소재가 고갈될 무렵 예전에 히트한 영화를 소재로 한 뮤지컬들이 만들어지기 시작했고 그 뮤지컬들이 히트하기 시작했다. 그러면서 나타난 것이 1998년 FOOTLOOSE이다. FOOTLOOSE는 뮤지컬의 3대요소 모두를 갖춘 영화였고 음악도 빌보드챠트 1위를 했던 작품이었기 때문에 기대가 컸었다. 우리나라에서는 한국배우들과 한국스텝들로 초연하는 작품으로 많은 어려움이 있었다. 우선 외국작품을 국내로 갖고오는 어려움이 있다. 모든 것(작품, 드라마, 춤, 노래, 무대세트, 의상..)등을 갖고 오냐, 아님 작품만을 갖고 오냐가 문제인데, 첫번째는 몇 달 전에 끝났던 "오페라유령"이 한국배우, 스텝들만 있었고 다른 모든 것들은 다 갖고 온 것이다(연출 또한 오페라유령연출가가 직접 배우들을 코칭했다) 하지만 이 풋루스는 작품에 대해서만 갖고왔기 때문에 그곳의 공연 비디오자료라던가 춤에 대한 것들은 보지도 못하고 또한 무대, 의상 또한 우리가 스스로 만들어야만 했다. 그러면서 약간의 혼동이 있어 배우들이 혼란스러워했지만 모두 그것을 이겨내 주었다. 배우, 스텝들 모두 잘 해주고 있고 음악으로 많은 사람들이 알고 있는 이 FOOTLOOSE를 어떻게 한국사람들의 정서에 맞게 뮤지컬로 만드냐가 중요하다. 이 논문은 뮤지컬 연습과정을 통해 영화음악과의 차이점이 많다는 점에 착안해서 비교 서술한 것이다. (영문초록)[영문초록] This musical had many limitations. As mentioned in the introduction of this study, the content made sense in the movie and was not enough in musical. Characters were only much enumerated. It had many characters, who ended in causing many problems and failing to find out the solution to them. Especially, the same is true of Chuck, Reil and Trevis. The end of the public performance would be better if the musical provided three characters and Ren's friends with an opportunity to become intimate with each other. These sayings might be said to be expository, but it would be better if the conflict occurring between the protagonist Ren and other characters would be resolved. And the pastor Show changed his mind in the dialogue between him and Ren. The movie slowly showed a change of his personality. Of course, he changed his thought while talking about her mind of interfering in her son's death and daughter through songs, but the sudden change of his mind was not consistent with the personality of the pastor Show. From the audience's perspective, it could be thought to be the very sudden change. But the content of the musical 'Footloose' was obscure in comparison with the movie, but 9 pieces of music were more composed compared to those of the movie. They were well-suited to the content of the miscal 'Footloose'. In addition, they are receiving more love from the audience. Its choreography was made more difficult, and one dancer fell down each day. The choreography of the musical 'Footloose' was different from that of that of American Broadway, but actors experienced many difficulties. The very this point can be said to be the advantage of the musical. It can be thought that it is the advantage of the musical to attract the audience using music and dance and luxurious lighting rather than the development of the drama and induce them to interweave its contents. Like this, the musical has advantages and disadvantages. If the musical is composed while supplementing these advantages and disadvantages, it could receive a better reputation and be given an opportunity to develop futher. I came to realize how important both the writer and the composer were when composing the musical first. The musical 'Footloose' seems to be much helpful to me along with teacher Lee Jong-hoon. He gave me many opportunities and then I came to make a study of stage, lighting, drama, choreography, music and the like. And I felt that presentation was not only to compose the work but also to read even the mind of actors and staff as the leader of the musical 'Footloose'. It is very regretable that this study had many limitations through there were many things to deal with. Especially, this adapted musical 'Footloose' experiences many difficulties due to its comparison with the foreign musical. In addition, our 'Footloose' failed to gain proper insight into that of American Broadway and its related materials were not enough. But the producer of our 'Footloose' copied the insight into it from the Japanese counterpart. Like this, the title and content were American but it could be made into the Korean drama. The regretable point was that the theater was very small compared to actors and actresses. It is expected that the theater specializing in the musical will be established as soon as possible, that the domestically created musical will be produced that harmonizes music, drama and dance precisely and that many specialized staff will be produced to create such musicals
