(논문요약)[영문초록] A film is the creative and composite art that is intimately composed of music, art, literature and so on. This research shows the way of image expression not only on the low budget art film "July 32nd" but only HD films and other low budge art films in terms of realism and expressionism. By analyzing the good and bad traits of them, the necessary alternative in the current film industry is able to be researched. This thesis also focuses on industrial aspect of a film within cultural industry: There are always two aspects on a film. For this reason, this thesis will follow a variety of aspects of HD film production such as the use of HD high technology, post production, distribution and marketing. Through these methods, the characteristic and special image concept of overall production process of "The July 32nd" such as pre-production, production and post-production will be sought for the research based on the tool of realism and expressionism. In Detail, the meanings of film grammar by the image, mise-en-scene and character expression used by the analysis of characters's emotion In "July 32nd" will be researched through both cinematography by realism and production design by expressionism. Through this movie "July 32nd", to restore the realism, the analysis of the vague expression will be sought by the space and image on human emotion. (the vague expression means not to express by direct approach, for example dialogue but to use the conceptive space by the indirect emotion.) With these analyses, Refocus on the boundary between routine commercial film and art film will be tried in terms of film diversity and more private work as a genre. Conclusively, the good trait and quality of the Film "July 32nd " will be materialized by special eyes dealing with all production process. Thus it will lead to alternative film making. In the frame of art film, the activation of low budget film, digital film, independent film, TV film and other non stream films will lead Korean film industry to get to the balanced and stable growth. The low budget digital film activation simply does not mean the digital film is better than others. In film, the digital means that the Issue of technology, making format and the concern by researcher is focused on the contents. That's is namely the films by using those format or technology, in terms of that digital format, give the chance of helping low budget film making. the alternative film making worth being made. Low budget film making gives the chance to find the alternative of both film making pre-production planning and final distribution. That means the proposal on the stable technical quality, the possibility of commercial purpose and original aesthetic work. The reason to focus the possibility of low budget film is not that means to reduce the production cost but that means to make the alternative exit of Korean film. This research shows that for Korean film industry development, the finding of the new possibility to make the low budget art film making is able to be sought and presented. In addition to new possibility, through analyzing the expression method of the film "July 32nd", we can differentiate routine film from it. The most important emphasis of "July 32nd" is the realistic image expression by HD camera and expressive image creation. Both the aspects of the theory are used for analysis of the form and contents of this film, then summarize the good and bad trait of HD film making, result in a variety of predictable effect and show the direction of film development. Besides, with view of culture diversity and long term goal, this research suggest the expansion of distribution and quality improvement. Within this thesis, for improving the Korean film industry, low budget film activation and new expressive method by HD film making IS able to be sought.
