- (논문요약)[국문초록] 언어 경관 (linguistic landscape)의 일부로서 이번 연구에서는 한국에 수입된 미국 영화의 번역된 제목들을 분석하였다. 언어 경관의 연구는 그 지역에 특정한 언어의 역할을 보여준다. 영화 제목은 대중에게 공개되고 게다가 광고의 역할을 하므로 언어 경관의 일부라고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 한국에서 수입된 미국 영화들의 번역된 제목들을 번역된 언어적 형식에 따라 나누고 이러한 서로 다른 형식들이 한국에서 영어의 위치에 대해 시사하는 바가 무엇인지 들어다 보았다. 그 결과 미국 영화 제목의 번역이 한국인들은 영어에 관해 높은 지식을 갖고 있으며 영어는 매우 안정되어 있고 주의집중의 역할을 한다는 사실을 뒷받침한다. (영문초록)[영문초록] As part of linguistic landscape, this study analyzes renderings of imported American movie titles in South Korea. The study of linguistic landscape shows the role of certain language in that place. Movie titles are part of linguistic landscape as they are exposed to public and also play a role of advertisement. This study divides the renderings of American movie titles in South Korea into categories according to each linguistic pattern they are rendered into, and then looks into what these different linguistic patterns tell about the status of English in South Korea. As a result, the renderings of American movie titles in South Korea has supported that Koreans have high knowledge of English; and English is highly valorized and play a role of attention getter in South Korea.
