(논문요약)[목적]흔히 다 알고 있는 듯 지나쳐 버리는 것들에 오해나 편견 혹은 무지가 있을 수 있다는 평범한 사실을 반추하며 -Ibsen의 경우 특히 그렇다고 생각된다- 우리들에게 불굴의 사상적 규범을 보여주며 결코 시류에 아부하거나 타협하지 않는, 시련속에서도 절망치 않은 한 작가의 정통성에 대한 적극적 탐구가 우리 연극에 깊이와 다양성을 심어줄 첩경이라 믿으며 여기에 본 연구의 목적을 둔다 (영문초록)This thesis is a study on transitional process of the great dramatist and poet Norway ever produced, and further on the Characteristics and Values of his plays as well as their influences on Korean drama. He was born in 1828 in a small Village called Skein and since then, he had been devoted to the writing of drama with exception of a few pieces of poem. In the earlier days, he produced works of romanticism, in the middle days, realistic works such as (A Doll's House) and (Ghosts) and in the latter days turned back to the romantic thoughts and ever his writing of romanticism and mysticism a mere reflection of his life style which was found in the dramatic thought of the 19th century. His clear-cut insight and thought enabled him to point out and criticize the conflicts under social environment making the inner problems of human beings widely exposed. He was commonly known to us as a social reformer and woman liberation leader, his Value recognizable in the phenomina happening since his death. There's growing awareness of his Value as time passes by which leads to the necessity and purpose of this Study. He is called the "Father of modern drama" of the "sheakespere of 19th Century" and he takes the most important position as a writer for the understanding of modern drama. No wonder he made a great contibution to the extablishment of "The New Drama(新劇) drive" in the beginning stage, which greatly influenced the Korean theater. However we can not deny there's some neglect on the correct understanding and study on him. Today we are faced with the necessity of more thorough study on realism or naturalism in order to lie the strong foundation of Korean theater. Accordingly, we need a new approach to his dramatic thoughts and works and a comprehensive study on world-wide judgement on him. He was faithful to his life to the last and strived for the accomplishment of his personal and idealistic life. He was a dramaticist, poet and man of thought and sharp observer of life. In other words, a writer who devoted his life to the truth and loneliness - a human being
