(영문초록)[영문초록]This paper examines the knowledge of theories and on-set experience acquired in preparing for the production of the three-dimensional film, <A Fish>, First, we explore people’s views of three-dimensional films, what effects stereoscopic films can have on the audience’s perceptions, and how to deal with the different form and technical limitations in contrast to two-dimensional films. Compared to two-dimensional films, three-dimensional films have different issues to deal with even from the scenario stage. We explain the limitation of subject matters, the distinctions in the pre-production stage, the process of drawing out the storyboard and the depth strip process to give depth budget in turning the storyboard to three-dimensional images, and how true the scenes can be with limitations on the filming set. Problems such as visual fatigue, double image, headache, motion sickness, and dizziness that arise from binocular disparity are first discussed. We experimented with the many limitations in shot organization, dimensional film’s structure and properties, and tried to apply a probable story, rather than just please the eye. Differences in perception, whenever new cinematic technologies are introduced, are studied. However, much trial and error and time are needed for anything new to be naturalized. Through the production experience, we re-analyzed knowledge and training that could not be gained by research papers or conferences on Stereoscopy. In order to emphasize perception of depth, various experimentation with trivial objects, characters, and each shot organization were made and described the process and result in detail. We continued to verify the environmental limitations that are inevitable in three-dimensional films, and how effectively depth perception can be expressed compared to two-dimensional films. Well-aware of clear differences in depth perception of stereoscopic images, we described through desirable image capturing process and results in the example of the three-dimensional film, <A Fish>, more distinct depth sensitivity and expression of texture that the problem of inter-axial distance of two cameras filming at once and the situation and effects that arise from it. The visual fatigue and discomfort from stereoscopic infraction are due to Keystone Distortion, Depth Plane Curvature, Cardboard Effect, and soon. Further explanation is included on the Cardboard Effect that forms when low inter-axial distance is used and the Puppet Effect when high inter-axial distance is used. Such phenomenon that forms in three-dimensional films along with how Ghost is created with the direction and intensity of light are analyzed. Normally, the Ghost effect forms when there is a great difference in contrast. White overlapping objects forms from light and Interest Distance abnormally shines brightly and blurs one’s view and cause Binocular Rivalry. Thus, in location hunting for the production, limitation in space is inevitable even in the sunlight. This research seeks a solution for this and experiments with different lighting directions from that of two-dimensional films.
