(논문요약)The origin of the acting is equivalent to the origin of play. Acting had began with the ancient Greek plays. Through the years of play-driven acting, different techniques had been created and diversified, which formed the foundation to foster film acting development in many different perspectives. Although it had only been 100 years since the first film ever was made, the industry have grown radically. Despite the process of infinite development and growth within the film mechanism, the film acting is still behind the development of the technic or technology. Due to their distinctive characteristics, there are many differences between the film acting and play acting. Fim is an editorial art driven by the director and the actor/actress acting through the camera, which are reformed under the elements of movements of cameras, vocalization by the short-size, and editorial art. With this peculiar aspects, film distinguishes itself from the play. This dissertation briefly went over the history of film acting development process in Hollywood, where 80% of the world's film industry is being occupied, and the history of the Korean film acting. Also, the close examination had been conducted on the acting related subjects at Nihon University in Japan against the Korean Universities where acting is being taught. There was a detailed curriculum programme made for the acting class at Nihon University where subjects were divided into directing, filing, Sound, Image Theory, and Acting. In Korea however, the educational emphasis was highly based on the production or nurturing the staff rather than acting itself. Despite the fact that the needs of performance(acting)-driven curriculums for film-acting majors, which include Breathing, Vocalization and Movement etc, are identified, it was sought that there is an insufficient level of acting curriculum for Korean acting students. Nihon University offers Japanese Traditional dancing class to the students. although there was a University who taught traditional masque play class, it was limited to only for a semester. Traditional masque play is an comprehensive art that combines music, dance, language, and acting together. It is considered as a program that students can benefit from the numerous basic knowledges of acting if it is taught alongside with the camera mechanism education. The film-related studies department in Korean universities and colleges should be encouraged to create more specific and suitable curriculums. Also, it is advised to construct a system where basics of acting knowledge can easily be acquired by offering more classes such as traditional masque play which students can learn to explode their physical expressions. Finally, I hope this study can contribute to organize a better acting class curriculum that can strengthens the acting training, wish it also can positively influence on the growth of the acting education.
