(논문요약)[목적] 본 논문에서는 한국영화 포스터의 형식과정을 살펴보고 조형적인 측면에서 포스터 구성요소들을 분석하여 한국영화포스터를 재조명해보고 연구함으로써 앞으로의 포스터 발전과 새로운 방향모색에 보탬이 되고자 한다. (영문초록)[영문초록] Today motion picture is one of the most popular forms of mass entertainment and has become a part of mass culture. The function of movie poster is to attract commercially a maximum number of viewers as possible through advertising the content of movie and its achievements as an entertainment as well as the time and place of its showing. To satisfy this function properly, a movie poster must generate a common emotion and feeling among potential viewers through appropriate expressions in the poster. In producing such a poster, a care must be given so as to invoke attention, interest and desire of the potential viewers strong enough to bring them ultimately to movie viewing. Although the Korean movie posters have made a tremendous progress since its first appearance in 1919, there are still shortcomings to perform their proper function. Especially, in comparison with other graphic designs, the designs of movie posters are still to shake off the fixed ideas and styles of the past. The intention of this thesis is to contribute for the advancement of movie poster production in Korea by tracing back the developmental steps of Korean movie posters between 1919 and 1983 and by analysing them.
