(논문요약)［목적］이 논문은 1980년대 중반부터 세계영화계에 등장해 주목을 받았던 중국 제5세대 영화의 영상적 스타일을 중국고대회화의 화법과 도교이념의 반영이라는 측면에서 연구함을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 주제접근은 내러티브와 스타일의 함축적 의미를 분석하는 상호텍스트적 방법을 적용하고 있는데, 이를테면 영화의 의미를 창출하기 위해 전통회화로부터 원리를 차용하는 것, 두 장르의 공유부분에서 영화의 특성부분, 그리고 회화를 해석하는 감독들의 시각 등이 여기에 포함된다. 따라서 이 논문은 제5세대 영화 중 시각적 이미지 특성이 강하고 그 표현기법에서 고대회화와 많은 유사점을 가지고 있는 장이모, 첸카이거의 작품을 중심으로 Framing and Shot, Point of View, 빛과 색채 등 영상표현의 주요 요소들을 비교·분석하여 그 영향적인 측면을 고찰했다. 또한 이 논문은 제5세대 영화의 공통적 특성의 범위를 뛰어넘어 전통회화인 산수화 화법과 도교적 자연사상에 기인한 공간의식과 구성, 사실과 상징을 나타내는 영상과 사운드, 빛과 색채의 동양적 표현성 등 그들만의 고유한 형식적 시스템으로 새로운 영상언어를 구축하여, 이른바 ‘중국적 영화’를 이룩했음을 밝히고 있다. (영문초록)［목적］The dissertation examins "the Chinese Fifth Generation Movies", a highly subject in the study of world movies since the mid 1980s, and attempts to explain and understand their style of image as a reflection of the art of ancient Chinese paintings and Taoism. For this purpose, the dissertation applies the inter-textual method, which is helpful to analyzing the implications of narrative and style. Namely, the method allows us to examine how the priciples of the ancient paintings are adoptedto the movies, how the techniques are shared by both the paintings and the movies, and how the directors interpret the paintings for the making of their movies, Consequently, the dissertation focuses on Chang Yi Mou and Chen Kaige, whose products are Known for their strong visual images among their contemporary Fifth Generation Movies and have much similarity to the ancient paintings in terms of expression techniques, and examines the influence of the painting on their movies by comparing and analyzing the main elements of image expression such as framing and shot, point of view, and light and color.
