(논문요약)[국문초록] 본 논문은 영화감독 셰진 및 그의 작품 속 여성 이미지를 연구한 것이다. 그 중에서 셰진이 80년대에 발표한 세 편의 영화를 중점적으로 분석하였다. 논문에서 집중적으로 분석한 영화는 <톈원산의 전기> <목마인> 그리고 <부용진>이다. 세 편의 영화에는 비슷한 정치적 배경 아래 상처받은 여성이 등장한다. 본 연구의 연구 문제와 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 셰진 영화 속에서 여주인공들은 시대에 따라 변화를 겪는다. 영화속에서 사회가 여성에게 어떤 영향을 줬는지 알아보았다. 또한 영화가 만들어진 시대에 따라 나타난 변화도 살펴보았다. -사회정치는 영화 속 주인공의 운명과 성격을 바꿔놓은 주요 요인으로 부각된다. 여주인공이 역경을 딛고 행복을 찾는 과정에서 중요한 전환점은 시대 상황과 일치한다. 특히 1980년대의 영화에는 문화대혁명의 소용돌이 속에서 꿋꿋이 살아남는 여성을 부각시켰다. 2. 여성과 남성과의 관계에서 셰진은 가정과 모성을 중요시하였다. 셰진 영화에서 가정은 여성과 남성에게 어떤 의미이며, 여성의 모성은 어떤 의미와 역할을 갖는가를 분석했다. -셰진의 영화에서 집은 중요한 서사 공간이다. 집-가정을 중심으로 개인의 생활이 전개되고, 국가의 운명까지 좌우한다. 가정을 지키기 위해 모성의 존재를 중요시하지만, 여성이 정신적으로 남성에게 의존하는 경향은 비판할 여지가 있다. 3. 셰진이 선택한 배우의 현실에서의 이미지는 영화 속 역할에 어떻게 영향을 미쳤고, 앞의 두 문제와 어떤 관련이 있는지 알아 보았다. -셰진은 배우의 현실 이미지가 영화 속 인물의 이미지와 일치하게 한다. 따라서 관객은 영화 속 인물에 쉽게 동화된다. 셰진 감독의 작품은 시기별로 침체기와 고조기가 있었는데, 80년대는 고조기였다. 세 편의 영화는 개혁 개방의 시기에 만들어졌고, 영화 속의 시대 배경은 문화대혁명 시기이다. 하지만, 같은 80년대에 만들어졌다고 해도 여성 이미지 자체와 그 표현에 있어서 적지 않은 차이가 있다. 분석의 결과로 나타난 셰진 영화의 특징, 여성의 특징은 셰진 한 사람만의 것은 아니다. 더욱이, 셰진 영화는 어떤 시대에나 주류 영화였기 때문에, 중국 관객의 사상에 영향을 주었고, 중국의 후배 감독들에게도 영향을 주었다. 한국에 있는 셰진 감독에 대한 자료는 대부분 서양 평론가의 연구를 한국인이 번역한 것이다. 그러나 셰진 영화를 진정으로 이해하려면 중국인들이 셰진을 어떻게 보는지 이해해야 한다. 본 논문은 중국인의 관점으로 셰진 영화를 논하였다. 중국과 중국인을 이해하는데 작게나마 도움이 되었으면 한다. (영문초록)[영문초록] In this thesis, I studied film director, Xie Jin and the female image in his works. I mainly analyzed three films which Xie Jin had produced in 1980s. They are The Tianyunshan Legend, Wrangler, and Furong Town. In these three films appear women who were hurt under the similar political background. The subjects and the results of the study are as follows. 1. The heroines in Xie Jin films undergo changes according to the times. I examined what influences society had on women in the films, and which changes happened according to the times when the films were made. - Society and politics stand out as main factors which change the heroines' destinies and personalities in his films. In the process that the heroines overcome difficult situations and get happiness, the turning points are very important, and they always accord with the phases of the times. Xie Jin emphasized, especially in his 1980s' films, the women who survived strongly in the whirl of the Chinese Revolution. 2. Xie Jin valued home and maternity above everything else in the relations between man and woman. I analyzed what meaning home gives to both man and woman respectively, and which meaning and role maternity has in his films. - In Xie Jin films, houses are the main place where stories are developed. With priority given to house-home, personal life develops and even the destiny of the nation is influenced. To maintain home, Xie Jin thinks much of the existence of maternity, while there is much room for criticism on the tendency that woman depends mentally on man. 3. I examined what effects the real images of the actresses whom Xie Jin chose for his films have on their roles in each film, and also I examined how they were related with the preceding two subjects. - Xie Jin harmonized the images of the actresses in actual life with those of the characters in the films. Accordingly, audience are easy to assimilate with the characters in the films. The works of Xie Jin has depressed times and prosperous times according to the times. 1980s had been properous times. The three films were made in the era of reformation and opening, and the historical background in the films were the Chinese Revolution. However, female images themselves and the expressions are very different, though the three films were made in the same 1980s. The characteristics of Xie Jin films and his heroines are not only Xie Jin's. His films had great influences on the thoughts of the Chinese audience and his junior directors, because they were the main stream of Chinese films in any age. The data about film director, Xie Jin in Korea are mostly those which Koreans translated the studies of Western critics into. To understand his films truely, however, people should understand what the Chinese think of Xie Jin. This thesis studied Xie Jin films from the Chinese point of view. I hope this study will help people to understand China and the Chinese.
