(논문요약)[영문초록] <Moments Musicaux>, a digital short film, displays the emotion of “passion.” The objective of producing this film is to cause catharsis among several functions of movies. In other words, this goal of producing this movie is to investigate passion, a required factor in the process of releasing emotions carried in the mind of audiences. <Moments Musicaux> proceeds on the basis of music in non-narrative patterns. Music has the ability to represent and induce emotions more actively beyond the limit of the expression of human’s language. Accordingly, with the use of music, this film made an effort to show emotions freely in the structural restriction of digital short films. Therefore, <Moments Musicaux> represents the generic characteristics of musical documentary. Particularly, the repertoire <Moments Musicaux> (composer: Han Suck-ho/producing and recording: the studio Arc/Hammond Organ/ 2008) was composed to produce this film. In terms of shooting, editing, and recording it, <Moments Musicaux> uses as much various angles as possible in order to record the player’s performance at the screen more actively. Moreover, in order not to damage animation, it does not restrict the selection of the lighting place compared to the narrative films. Thus, it does not restrain the emotion of the performance within the frame. <Moments Musicaux> requires experiencing more active emotions with the use of the performance of players, instead of actors and actresses, and with the use of music, instead of lines. Hence, it demands special consideration to the environment of showing the film in order to convey the same emotions as the one felt at the shooting spot. The thesis consists of the process of producing a single film and the investigation of “passion” which the movie director put an effort to comprehend in this film.
