(논문요약)[영문초록] <Scars> is an independent feature with the attributes of diversity, new attempts and search for alternatives as an independent film and a low-budget film of an industrially developed form in relation with the mainstream film market. It was projected as a constant stimulus to overturn the flow of Korean films when they fail to escape from the conventional customs, mannerism, and stagnation as a venue of endless experiments and attempts based on the qualities as an independent film. It also set out to serve as an alternative to the Korean film industry, invigorating the diversity film market and explore the possibility of creating a new market. Just like a common film, it focuses on "freshness to appeal to the audience" and "how to communicate with the audience." Its significance lies in the experience of making a film according to the conditions of a low-budget film. In recent years, such small films have reached a new record in project and production through individuals, professional production companies, and small-sized film groups. However, the unsystematic nature still prevails in the approaches to low-budget films and effective production systems. Considering the poor production capital and the narrow market structure of low-budget films, it is time to do solider project and set up a systematic and rational production system for low-budget films. By analyzing the project and the detailed production steps of a low-budget feature film <Scars>, this study aimed to suggest directions of rational and efficient help for understanding the production flow and fundamental project process of low-budget feature films to those who will get involved in the production of diverse low-budget films in future. It also assessed the overall film project and production process, searched for the significance of the low-budget film in the changing setting of Korean films, and explored the possibility of growth in low-budget films in future.
