- (논문요약)[영문초록] The filmmaking has been increasingly developed with technology. The digital media makes filmmaking easier and cheaper. Cameras are getting smaller and upgraded. As a result, lots of people are able to shoot and edit video easily. However, the cost of production still remains a big problem to all filmmakers. Especially, it is a great burden to directors who make short films even if short film is the easiest way for up-and-coming directors to show their own talent. A short film, <Two men on the date> is a work from Digital Image and Contents workshop in Dongguk University Graduate School. And also, it was under the KT & G Sangsangmadang film pre-production support system in 2006. I participated in this project as a producer from March to September in 2006. KT&G supported $2,500 of the total budget, $5,000. I studied film pre-production support systems in order to resolve problems of the production cost in Dongguk University. As working at the project, I recognized the problems of domestic pre-production support systems, so I researched the cases and policies of short film pre-production support systems in foreign countries. This paper includes the definition of a short film and the changes of the support systems for Korean short filmmaking from the 1950s to 2000s. In addition, I compared pre-production support systems of Korea and foreign countries. The last, I studied improvements of short films pre-production support systems through the production of short film <Two men on the date>.
