Synopsis
Hyun-shik is an underground singer who sings of loneliness, the pain of love, despair and separation. His fans meet him through his records and live concerts. In-kyung, a freelance photographer, photographs Hyun-shik on stage and they soon fall for one another. Hyun-shik begins to let go of the emotions he sings about but In-kyung becomes increasingly confused as their relationship becomes more serious. She runs away to Japan right before they are to wed one another. After her departure, Hyun-shik becomes more destitute and begins to drown his sorrow in alcohol and even begins to sing while he is intoxicated. He becomes temperamental and eventually marries another woman. Although he marries another woman to start over, he gets arrested for drug use and ends up getting divorced. After his release, he successfully finishes a comeback tour but his desperate drinking binges drive him to the edge. Sensing his imminent demise, Hyun-shik prepares for his last recording all the while coughing up blood. He left the world a musical legacy of despair, love, separation and death.
