Synopsis
Choong-yong, who comes from a family that strongly adheres in Confucianism falls in love with and marries Young-ran, his roommate Soo-tae's sister. Young-ran suffers a miscarriage when she receives news that Soo-tae has died in battle in Vietnam. She is diagnosed sterile. Choong-yong's family sends him off to Japan on a business trip and they run Young-ran out. When he returns from Japan, Choong-yong tries at first to find Young-ran but ends up marrying another woman. Young-ran runs a small cafe in a fishing village where she is being tormented by Gwak's unwelcome advances. Gwak who promises Choong-yong that he will tell him whereabouts of Young-ran rips him off instead. The two keep missing each other and Choong-yong begins to hate Young-ran. With the help of Choi Sun-joo, the two are finally reunited. But Young-ran is already remarried with a man who has two kids. Choong-yong bids her a happy life and ends his twenty year-old search.
