The Cut Runs Deep

Synopsis

Ben is a half-white, half-korean sixteen year-old working at a Chinese take-out place in the urban ghetto of New York City. He is initiated into a Korean youth gang after helping its members escape during a delivery job. Ben befriends the gang's enigmatic leader, J.D. who is charmed by the former's peculiar innocence and honesty. One day yang-ho, the town's middleman, pressures J.D. to send Ben on a hit job, but J.D. is convinced that Ben is not fit for the life of the underworld. Meanwhile, Ben falls in love with a highclass call girl named Mina who merely treats him as her sex-mate. One day, J.D. disappears without a reason, and the frustrated gang go on a robbery hit headed by the rebellious Eddie. But the gang inadvertently ends up killing a Korean lady. J.D. kills Yang-ho to bring some closure to the long battle between the two gangs, but Yang-ho has already ordered the rival gang to go after J.D.'s boys. Yang-ho's group subsequently ambushes J.D.'s group and kills everyone except Ben who somehow manages to escape. Desolate again, Ben wanders the streets of Manhattan, deciding the last thing he can do is to save Mina from her meaningless life. He walks into the limousine in which Mina is working and kills her customers.
