Synopsis
My mom cannot ride in a car because of her dizzy spells. She lives one hour's drive away from Haenam, in what seems like the end of the world. But ever since she gave birth to me, she's never ridden in a car. Not only has she not been in a car, just by watching one go by on the street, she breaks out into a cold sweat and feels nauseous. After having me at age 40, my mom started having these dizzy spells. So, on the day my brother came home from the army, she walked to the city bus terminal to meet him, two hours away from our home. On my sister's wedding day, my mom tried to take a taxi, but before she had reached the boundary of our town, she gave up and returned home. My mom always says, "I tried too hard to have you at an old age? and laughs. Mom says she is going to go on her first adventure, but she has been sick in bed for few days now. There are four days left until my wedding day, and my mom says that there's a special reason for her to attend but she doesn't know how she will get there. The whole family tries everything possible, including putting her on a boat, on a rickshaw, on a hot-air balloon, and giving her a sedative to sleep through the ride.
