Synopsis
This is another horror thriller helmed by veteran director Kim Sung-hong, who has been focusing on making Korean thrillers, after 3 years. The main plot deals with the obsessive love and lust for his young wife by a middle-aged man -- who is actually a serious psychopath even though he is a plastic surgeon by occupation -- and the resulting grotesque murder case. Just watching those psychotic behaviors gives you the creeps, but what's more interesting is that the person who plays the role of the psychopath is Kim Chang-wan, who has an image of the good middle-aged man next door. Such unexpectedness adds zest to the movie. His understanding of Janus's character and acting are excellent. Since his presence is strongly felt, the movie can be said to be one "of Kim Chang-wan, by Kim Chang-wan, and for Kim Chang-wan." The biting sarcasm about Korea as a plastic surgery power is also notable.
